Project for the Design of “Buna Ziua” Park - International Competition - 5th place
One of the most important aspects regarding the design of the “Buna ziua” park is played by the revitalisation of the Becas river through controlled augmentations of the flow, by modeling its transverse section and by capturing rainwater from the slopes.
For crossing and visiting the park, a hierarchical network of alleys is proposed. The main pedestrian alley, bordered by a bicycle track, is proposed to cross the park from the east to the west. Along this alley various recreational spaces and the most important architectural objects, diverted from the main pathway through ramps and platforms, are placed. From the main alley, in the north-south direction, winding secondary alleys start down, fallowing the natural slope of the park, to the river, making it easier to cross the park and visit the wetlands. The access areas to the park are treated as small planted squares and make the transition between the city and the park.
The project, through the minimal proposed interventions, by preserving the valuable existing vegetation, by revitalising the river course, aims to preserve the semi-wild nature of the park and develop biodiversity.
